FredaAnn+Dustin | Married | Omni Homestead Resort Wedding

Homestead Resort Wedding Hot Springs

The holiday season is all about celebrating close ties with family and friends. And what better way to go about that than tying the knot?FredaAnn and Dustin's early-Christmas wedding at The Homestead Resort in Hot Springs was nothing short of magical. The historic property with 18th-century roots is remarkably beautiful (and huge! I kept feeling like I was about to get lost!). I first visited the hotel on a baking, summer day for FredaAnn and Dustin's engagement session, and returned in the fall to celebrate my own second wedding anniversary, but was completely blown away by the transformation the resort undergoes for the holidays. The gigantic Christmas tree and garland-wrapped columns of the grand lobby are the first hints to guests that they have arrived somewhere special. Between the hospitality of the Omni staff, 2000 acres of indoor and outdoor activities, and the excellent party hosted by the bride and groom in the resort's Crystal Ballroom, FredaAnn and Dustin's guests were treated to a holiday party to remember.

Despite Mother Nature withholding snow, this wedding day was still dripping in ice. There's no denying that FredaAnn is a lady who likes her bling! From the top of her bejeweled head to the tips of her sparkle-toed shoes, FredaAnn got her twinkle on. Though all that glitter paled in radiance to Dustin's smile when he saw her during their first look. After a touching and personal ceremony across the street at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, guests were treated to the best Christmas dinner I've ever tasted and a dance floor energized by Virginia wedding band The Worx. I will be dreaming about those sweet potatoes and the mushroom stuffing for years to come. The centerpieces and arrangements were a perfect nod to the season and a very impressive DIY accomplished by the bride and her daughter.

Their guests gathered outside the Crystal Ballroom for one more touch of sparkle to end the night — a sparkler exit, the freezing temperatures made more bearable by the warmth of kinship and the heated rooms waiting just upstairs.

Reception, Catering, and Accommodations: The Omni Homestead Resort, Hot Springs, Va.
Band: The Worx

Radio Silence

It’s that time of the year when  I’m finishing taxes, meeting with tons of couples, and beginning to work back-to-back sessions. I’ll be in Alabama the next few days, as well! While I’ll be working on some updates from the road, here’s a pretty film shot…

Working on the office

One of the big reasons I was excited about buying our house was finally having a proper office space. I feel like I've been moving so much since graduating from high school -- every year in college + summers, and then every year after…

Delightfully Downton!

Like many others, I've been sucked in watching Downton Abbey on PBS. Especially since David and I don't subscribe to cable or satellite for our home, it's nice that for once one of the "it" shows de jour is something I can stay current…
